ABOUT

WASPAN is the association of value-added service providers in Nigeria, services beyond the simple sending of an SMS or placing a call to another mobile user. We aim to provide a self-regulating mechanism for our members (present and future) in accordance with the principles of fairness, transparency and good corporate practice.

Member WASPs are professional providers of niche value-added services to Nigerian mobile services end users via the infrastructure of mobile network operators and the general internet (as in the case of OTT), providing a unique forum for communication, enabling interactions on present and new platforms, relentlessly pursuing the provision of services defined by professional research and innovation to fill identified subscriber need gaps.

With targeted research, we craft new and existing interactive mobile services in ways they have never before been delivered, adapting success models to local preferences, tastes and needs. Forming and nurturing alliances - local and international - we continue to explore and develop operational mastery in services that find novel and better ways to satisfy mobile subscribers. WASPAN is committed to the advancement and qualitative delivery of content services to Nigerian consumers as well as to the advancement and qualitative delivery of content services to Nigerian consumers.

WASP LTD/GTE’s mission is to enable the creation, promotion and acceptance of world class value-added services that solve everyday problems and entertain our valued subscribers.

It shall harness the collective strengths and experiences of its member firms to provide superior customer service; ensure a level playing field and practice sustainable national development to the benefit off all players in the value chain.

WaspGTE Rationale
The objectives for which WASP was established are:
  1. To provide a forum where wireless application service providers can come together with a view to tackling the peculiar problems affecting the wireless application service industry in order to enable the provision of better and cheaper services to telecommunications subscribers and the Nigerian public in general.
  2. To interface with the Nigerian regulatory authorities and telephone network operators with a view to constantly informing them of the peculiar problems militating against the provision of qualitative wireless application services to telecommunications subscribers and the Nigerian public in general.
  3. To promote the use of wireless application services and related value-added services by telecommunications subscribers and the Nigerian public.
  4. To provide cheaper, innovative and more efficient services to the members of the Nigerian public.
